The term "chakra" comes from Indian yoga philosophy. It means circle or wheel in Sanskrit. The Chakra is the energy center in our body in which energy flows through. These wheels or centers within and around our bodies influence our consciousness and behaviors. Literally translated from the Hindi it means 'Wheel of spinning Energy'. A chakra is like a whirling, vortex like, powerhouse of energy. The body does contain hundreds of other chakras that are instrumental to the operation of our existence. However there are only seven that are considered major. Our seven main chakras are connected to our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels as well as specific organs, glands and body systems.
These seven align with specific, vertically stacked key points along the midline of the physical body, and are the main centers that yogis and energy workers tend to focus in on.
